Navachar Sansthan was formed as a group of rural intellectuals in Kapasan sub-division of Chittorgarh district, Rajasthan in 1985. ‘Navachar’ literally means ‘Innovation’. It was registered as a society in 1988 under the societies Registration Act. Since its inception the organisation is working on issues of agriculture enhancement, land and water management, animal husbandry and agrarian economy, women and child issue, self help groups, livelihood, adolescent and youth friendly health service and their issues, HIV/AIDS, and dalit and tribal rights. It has also promoted the development of skill related capacity of village level groups and ensured the participation of women on issues related to employment and socio-economic equity. Along with these Navachar also works to develop capacity of people’s organisations formed in its area of operation and does networking at the state and national levels for the success of their efforts.

Navachar Sansthan works in over 100 villages of three development blocks of Kapasan sub-division namely Kapasan (60 villages), Bhopalsagar (30 villages) and Rashmi (10 villages). Kapasan is the sub-division headquarters of Chittorgarh district in south Rajasthan.
